The Jordan Anti Drugs Society (TJADS), represented by its President Dr. Mousa Daoud Al-Tarifi, participated in the 5th Istanbul Initiative Summit, which brought together over 50 international representatives from 30 countries. The society represented the Middle East and North Africa region, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing regional and international cooperation in combating addiction and safeguarding public health.
During the summit, it was agreed that the presidency of the Istanbul Initiative would be handed over to Mr. Esbjörn Hörnberg, Executive Director of IOGT International, in recognition of his significant role in promoting global efforts to combat addiction.
The summit concluded with a closing ceremony attended by H.E. Mrs. Mahinur Özdemir Göktas, Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services, who, in her final address, reaffirmed the Turkish government’s commitment to supporting addiction prevention efforts and enhancing preventive policies. The Minister expressed her appreciation for the international efforts in this field, emphasizing the importance of strengthening global partnerships to achieve a healthier and more sustainable future.
Dr. Al-Tarifi emphasized that TJADS’ participation in the summit aims to expand international cooperation and exchange expertise, ensuring the development of effective policies for addiction prevention in the Middle East and North Africa region, while applying best practices in this vital area.
