Islamabad, 7 June 2023 (TDI): Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation and The Jordan Anti-Drugs Society (TJADS) Collaborate with Serena Hotels to Host a Discussion on Drug Awareness in Pakistan
Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation and The Jordan Anti-Drugs Society (TJADS) have joined forces with Serena Hotels to organize an enlightening panel discussion titled “Early Drug Prevention Strategies: The Future of Youth.”
The KKAWF, a leading organization dedicated to raising awareness among the youth about the alarming drug issue in Pakistan, aims to take immediate action with the support of the government, social institutions, and educational establishments.
Cristina Von Sperling Afridi, the driving force behind this impactful foundation, delivered a warm welcome note to kick off the event.
Esteemed senior journalist and anchor person Syed Talat Hussain, along with Dr. Ayesha Razzaque, former technical advisor to the Ministry of Education and Op-Ed writer for The News International, skillfully moderated the event.
The first session, “Early Prevention Strategies,” featured Dr. Mousa Daoud Al-Tarefi, President of the Jordan Anti-Drug Society, as the keynote speaker.
The panelists for this session included experts in the field of narcotics and prevention, such as Syed Kaleem Imam, former Federal Secretary Senator Sana Jamali, and Afridi herself.
Together, they shed light on the importance of proactive measures and effective strategies to prevent drug abuse among young individuals.
The second session, “Drug Use Prevention, Awareness, and Education: Learnings from Civil Society & Youth,” was skillfully moderated by Dr. Ayesha Razzaque.
Distinguished individuals in the field, namely Sarfraz Qamar Daha, Lubna Ghani Haya Uddin, Wajahat Ali, and Adnan Malik, comprised the panel.
This session delved into insights and experiences from civil society, emphasizing the role of education and awareness in combatting drug misuse.
During an engaging open mic session, the audience shared their perspectives on the significance of parental involvement, innovative approaches, and the collaboration between educators and society to create a drug-free environment for future generations.
The event boasted an impressive lineup of renowned experts, including psychologists, educators, addiction specialists, law enforcement professionals, and community leaders, who provided valuable insights and practical strategies to proactively tackle the drug issue.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo capturing the esteemed panel members, followed by the presentation of souvenirs as a token of appreciation.
